CAREEER SHOULD BE PLANNED SCIENTIFICALLY
Hyderabad : Career planning should not be left to mere chance, fate or luck. It should be planned scientifically supported by psychological testing. “Scientific career planning is the sole responsibility of youth themselves and not that of their parents or teachers,” said Muthukurara Swamy, noted psychologist and director, Roots and Wings, Chennai.
He was participating in a workshop on ‘Scientific career planning with multimedia demonstration of psychologiacal testing’ at the Forbels High School, Red Hills, on Saturday. The workshop was organized by Iqra Society for Career Guidance for the benefit of 10th standard students.
Different students, Mr.Swamy said, had different interest patterns, personality profiles and unique set of aptitudes. Mr.Swamy carried out the psychological test on a few students and gave practical demonstration of finding out aptitudes. Usually University Departments of psychology, associations of psychologists, private career guidance centers, placement agencies and sites such as www.queendom.com and www.emode.com conduct such tests.
Amanullah Khan, president, Iqra society for career guidance, spoke. Monica Paul, principal, Froebels High School, welcomed.
